ImageFirm Research Note · Claude Design

Build faster. Design with evidence.

A fact-checked and production-oriented rewrite of the social infographic. The core idea is valid: Claude Design is now a real Anthropic product. But the original post mixes verified capabilities with optimistic timing claims, vague 3D language and an oversimplified “one-click” production story.

Executive verdict

The infographic is directionally accurate, but too absolute. Anthropic officially launched Claude Design in April 2026 with design-system onboarding, imports from prompts/files/codebases, direct text editing, fine-grained visual controls, collaboration, export to Canva/PDF/PPTX/standalone HTML, and handoff bundles for Claude Code.

The weak points are the implied guaranteed build times (“~1 min”, “~2 min”), the framing of 3D as a universal native renderer, and the suggestion that production deployment is inherently effortless. Those are workflow-dependent claims, not product guarantees.

Reliability score

78/100

Good concept. Needs precision around outputs, review, rendering and production handoff.

What the post gets right — and wrong

Each statement below has been normalized against Anthropic’s current product announcement, Help Center and Claude Code documentation.

✓ Verified

Claude Design is real

Anthropic officially introduced Claude Design in April 2026 and lists it for Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise subscribers.

✓ Verified

Design systems are first-class

It can build a team design system from codebases and design files, then reuse colors, typography and components across projects.

✓ Verified

Fine-grained visual editing

Inline comments, direct text editing and adjustment controls for spacing, color and layout are explicitly supported.

✓ Verified

Multiple export formats

Anthropic states exports can include Canva, PDF, PPTX, standalone HTML, folders and internal URLs.

✓ Verified

Claude Code handoff

A design can be packaged as a handoff bundle for Claude Code, which can then edit files, run commands, test and iterate.

△ Partly true

“Generate 3D render”

Claude Design can create rich prototypes and visual assets, but “3D renderer” should not be read as a blanket replacement for dedicated 3D tools. Quality depends on implementation and rendering stack.

△ Marketing estimate

1–2 minute build times

No official Anthropic documentation guarantees the post’s per-step times. Simple tasks may be fast; brand systems, review and production-ready output can take multiple iterations.

△ Needs nuance

“One idea, endless possibilities”

Accurate as positioning, but outputs remain constrained by source material, model limits, available tools, design quality, browser behavior and human review.

✕ Overstated

Publish = production-ready

Exporting or handing off code is not the same as production assurance. Accessibility, security, performance, analytics, SEO, content and cross-device QA still matter.

The refined six-stage workflow

A better version of the infographic separates creative generation from verification and production engineering.

1

Systemize the brand

Define or import visual tokens, typography, components, voice and constraints.

FOUNDATION
2

Prototype the experience

Generate responsive screens, flows or a working prototype from requirements.

STRUCTURE
3

Direct & refine

Edit text directly, comment on elements, tune layout and apply changes globally.

ITERATION
4

Extend to assets

Derive decks, documents, social layouts, visual explainers and prototype media.

SYSTEM SCALE
5

Handoff to build

Export standalone HTML or package the design intent for Claude Code implementation.

ENGINEERING
6

Verify & ship

Run responsive, accessibility, SEO, security, performance and functional QA.

PRODUCTION
ImageFirm refinement: motion, 3D and rich interaction belong inside stages 4–5, not as guaranteed “one-button” outputs. The right question is not “can AI generate it?” but “can the result be validated, maintained and shipped at the quality bar required?”

Capability catalogue

Use the filters to view the product by business outcome rather than by social-media hype.

Design systems

Establish reusable brand rules from codebases and design files; maintain multiple systems for teams or product lines.

Rich visual concepts

Prototype motion, dimensional treatments and rich media direction. Dedicated rendering tools may still be appropriate for final 3D or video output.

Prompt recipes that outperform the infographic

These prompts make goals, constraints, review criteria and handoff requirements explicit.

01 · Design-system intake

Build a design system for [brand/product]. Use the attached brand references and codebase as evidence. Extract tokens for color, typography, spacing, radius, elevation, iconography and motion. Define reusable components and states. Flag inconsistencies instead of silently normalizing them. Produce a short rationale for every major design decision.

02 · Responsive website

Create a mobile-first responsive website for [offer]. Audience: [audience]. Primary conversion: [action]. Use the approved design system. Prioritize information architecture, accessibility, performance and clear CTA hierarchy. Include empty, loading, error and success states where relevant. Avoid generic AI aesthetics. Prepare the result for Claude Code handoff.

03 · Executive pitch deck

Create a 10-slide executive pitch deck for [company/product]. Audience: [investor/client]. Narrative: problem → evidence → solution → differentiation → business model → proof → roadmap → ask. Use one message per slide, data-first visual hierarchy and our brand system. Export as PPTX and include speaker-note suggestions.

04 · Production handoff

Package this approved design for Claude Code. Preserve design intent, component hierarchy, responsive breakpoints, interaction states and content priority. Include an implementation checklist for accessibility, SEO, performance, analytics, security and browser testing. Do not treat visual similarity as completion; verify behavior.

Operating rules for serious work

Claude Design compresses the design loop; it does not eliminate product judgment.

Do

  • Start with a design system or explicit visual constraints.
  • Supply real content, real requirements and source references early.
  • Ask for responsive states, edge cases and interaction behavior.
  • Separate concept approval from implementation approval.
  • Use Claude Code or an engineering workflow for production verification.
  • Review accessibility, legal claims, data handling and brand compliance.

Avoid

  • Assuming a social-media “2 minute” estimate is a service-level guarantee.
  • Equating exported HTML with a hardened production application.
  • Using “make it premium” without defining what premium means.
  • Regenerating entire screens when a local edit or design token change is enough.
  • Expecting complex 3D or cinematic motion to replace specialized pipelines automatically.
  • Skipping human QA because the first draft looks polished.
